Obama and His Family During the Celebration

I am extremely pleased that Barack Obama won the election. I stayed up as long as I could, but fell asleep before the results. I woke up, opened my laptop in bed, read the results and cried. It was as if a valve, that had been closed for 8 years, had been opened. For the first time in my life I feel hope. 

 Being a Generation X’er, I, honestly never believed the future  was bright, full of promise and hope. I feel hope, ironically, since I live in Norway, now. I really feel like the regular, average, everyday American will benefit greatly. 

 I come from a generation of cynics. Do I really believe all will be great, the world will embrace peace, the sick will be healed and the US will become a land of true happiness?  Yes, yes I do.

Over the summer, in July, I was part of a commercial for Norway’s largest sport company, G-Sport. We traveled up to Jutenheimen  and filmed for 2 days. It was a lot of fun. The weather was great, the scenery was amazing and the people I worked with were fantastic.

AND FINALLY… The complete commercial airing in Norway now.

This is the saddest thing I have seen. George Bush and all the other fuckwads can go fuck themselves. I gotta write something before I black out. No seriously, I decided to drink one of the bottles of beer I made this week. I know, I know, it’s before the 6-10 days I am supposed to wait. Wow! Holy shit! The beer is delicious! It’s really good. The problem is that it has too much strength, or as I call it, ‘love’…

I’m okay though. What it has is a real beer taste. It doesn’t taste like it was made in a factory. It tastes like.. like… victory.

Joseph Conrad and Marlon Brando aside, I feel compelled to recommend another blog. Michael J Totten’s Middle East Blog. This is an amazing site. It’s all about an independent reporter in Iraq. In this article he reports about a Civil Affairs unit doing some important distribution of food, water and beanie babies. Hearts and minds my friends. It also happens to be my old MOS. CA all the way. They are stationed in Rochester, not too far from Buffalo. The thing I appreciated the most about this site was how well the stories are told. They are told with honesty, pictures and (what appears to be) complete objectivity.

I hope this guy doesn’t end up a statistic.
