Obama and His Family During the Celebration

Obama and His Family During the Celebration

I am extremely pleased that Barack Obama won the election. I stayed up as long as I could, but fell asleep before the results. I woke up, opened my laptop in bed, read the results and cried. It was as if a valve, that had been closed for 8 years, had been opened. For the first time in my life I feel hope.

Being a Generation X’er, I, honestly never believed the future  was bright, full of promise and hope. I feel hope, ironically, since I live in Norway, now. I really feel like the regular, average, everyday American will benefit greatly.

I come from a generation of cynics. Do I really believe all will be great, the world will embrace peace, the sick will be healed and the US will become a land of true happiness?  Yes, yes I do.

This has restored my faith in the USA and (most of) its people.

P.S. I like the new look.

Interesting post and blog. Relevantly, many prominent experts and publications have pointed out that Obama is part of Generation Jones, born 1954-1965, between the Boomers and GenXers.

You may find this page interesting: it has, among other things, excerpts from publications like Newsweek and the New York Times, and videos with over 25 top pundits, all talking specifically about Obama’s identity as a GenJoneser:

Thank you for the info. Strangely enough I have never heard of Generation Jones. I read 4 hours, at least, a day. How did I miss that?
I guess we (Xers) haven’t had our day yet… figures..

I shed tears of joy too … and now the republican party is ripping Sarah Palin every chance they can get.

As an X-er too, I haven’t heard about these Jones’s either … interesting.

thumbs up on the new look too.

Yes, I love this design too. Very easy to look at.

So I looked on wikipedia and they say generation jones is 1960-75. Then I look on Wikipedia about generation x . They are 1965 to 1980, or 1968 to 1979. So I guess I am both. My Generation’s first President!

I’ll always claim to be an X-er. Proudly.

Me too. It’s cooler to be an X’er in an uncool sort of way….
