The Bourne Constipation

by Dr. Pants on Aug.31, 2007, under Politics

I have been reading a little history. If you are not in the mood to be depressed don’t look at Napolean’s history and Great Britains’ history. In both areas there are times when the downfall came from arrogance and self-righteousness.

fight.jpg The thing is, most of the bad stuff happens with little notice. Think of the million times you read something that looked like a bad thing about to happen… and then forgot about it. It no longer existed in your world. You didn’t hear about it anymore and, therefore, it doesn’t exist. Katrina may be a good example. That place is still really trashed and the people who lived there are still really fucked. But you have work and family, groceries and bills, traffic and fear to deal with.

This is essentially the problem. You don’t feel a difference. During WWII Americans felt what was going on. They sacrificed. What have you sacrificed today? I haven’t sacrificed one fucking thing. Neither have you.

If you went and typed “Iraq, ” “War,” “Blog,” etc…etc.. You would see that this thing is very real. It is extremely complex (Much more complex than a news report can sum up in 2 minutes). It is more than Us vs them. The problem is that  most of us think this way.

How many know the history of Iraq? How many know an Iraqi? How many understand them? How many truly understand what is going on there? I know I don’t. I try real hard. I read more than my heart can stomach. I still don’t know what the hell to do.
