Discopants and Haircuts

I have seen a litany of films lately due to having  some time off.

Also, I have been reading some past posts and have come to the conclusion I am a freak case. Just remember that even the great oak was once a little nut. I think it may have come from eating too many MREs, long ago.

Back to the topic… Some good films. I’ll even give them fuckin’ stars for ya. (outta 5)

The Illusionist- ***** Extremely entertaining. I highly recommend it for a nice Saturday Evening with the Misses.

Meet the Robinsons- **** Yes I saw it. I have kids man! Just like the Incredibles, it is enjoyable for parents to watch with the kids.

300 ** I give it 2 only because after I finished watching it I sat and realized how utterly stupid it was. The violence was extremely enjoyable.. Almost mesmerizing… Very Matrix like. I suppose if you drive a Hummer, like to pump iron, think everyone is a pussy and have a small penis, this is a five star film.

Casino Royale- **** - I finally feel like someone did a Bond film right. I loved every minute of it. Does the new Bond remind anyone of Steve McQueen?

The Pick of Destiny- Tenacious D ****- Four stars for a fun, mindless, cool film. Good music, good story, good laughs, and lots of drug use..

Whale Rider- **** Pretty cool little film from New Zealand …I believe. What really got me was how well that little girl could act.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.. TMNT- ** Sucked.. really it did..

Wild Hogs -* Maybe it was really funny to some people. I am sorry.. I just didn’t like it at all. Sure, mindless fun.. I get it. W.H. Macy may be the only one who deserves a thumbs up. I honestly like dumb films too.. But this whole middle-age, trying-to-find-yourself-again crap makes me want to believe there are secret organizations spewing this filth only to pacify and ‘teach’ the masses about how to properly deal with getting older. I envision, 20-30 years down the road, a surplus of untouched Harleys at multiple estate sales. Check your local want ads. Where’s my tinfoil hat?

I got the place to myself for the night.

I can honestly say that the system is broken. Hillary and Obama both raised 50 mil already. Am I the only one that says, ‘Why don’t they put that money to good use?” I know that is a very simplistic idea but damn do they spend a lot of money to get elected. Does this seem terribly skewed to anyone?

A few years back I was actually into politics. I’ll tell ya.. the last few years have just ripped and stomped any type of hope I had for a better future for the world. Maybe as we get older it looks worse and worse and that is how it has always been. Or maybe shit is REALLY fucked up now. So when is the revolution… Never. Too many waiting for their Wii to be delivered.

Too many people are slaves to their debt and their health care. Too many people are too damn busy working their asses off just to get by. Personally the idea of having a mandatory paid five weeks vacation this year makes me feel sad for those ‘left behind’ in the states. This place is by no means perfect but they do pay everyone for 5 weeks vacation every year.
