Madrugada

I love that Norwegian Band. Madrugada is to Norway what the Tragically Hip is to Canada. Personally I prefer The Hip. Madrugada is pretty damn good though.
I have been away from home for so long that I think I have forgotten many things.
Friends, let me share one idea. If you decide to follow your heart, you will encounter good and bad. In fact, I can guarantee you will always, no matter what you do, encounter good and bad. My parents were her last week. I hadn’t seen them in over a year. We had a royal good time. It was Amanda’s Baptism, Natalie’s birthday, my Step-Father’s Birthday and Debby’s and my anniversary. It was a banner fucking week.
But, sadly, I am at a loss for what to do now that they have gone. I have realized how important family is like I never have before. Try this, leave everything in your life that you know. Live in a place where no one speaks or acts like you have ever known. Try saying something like, ‘So it goes’ or ‘Let’s move on’ or ‘What’s Up?’. No one understands. I swear, I speak like a robot now. Everything is literal, nothing is quick and everything is misinterpreted. If I had a dime for all the times I am misunderstood I would be semi-rich… still craving the ability to explain myself.
Kudos to those who stay home…

Hey Eric, you’ve gone missing. Come back come back.
I listened to the two bands, and they sound interesting for sure. Have to return for more.
As you know, I’ve done exactly what you’ve done. I’ve been in Switzerland for 12 years of my life! But let me say this: your immediate family (wife, daughters and your own prick should be where you put all your lovin’. Since your kids will be grown up sooner than you think (my son is already going on 18 and ready to leave the nest for good!) you’d best make a couple of good friends in Norway and don’t worry about the rest.
In a way, it’s great to miss family and friends. You end up appreciating each other more. Familiarity breeds contempt.
Skyping and video iChatting go a long way towards “being there” whenever you crave mugs.
One of the best investments I ever made was my video camcorder, which allows me to show off my “ass-ettes”. Loads of fun.
I am not homesick for America. Whenever I go back for any length of time, I get repulsed by the rampant greed and arrogance along with the political scene. I also don’t miss all the violence, religious zealotry and tv addiction.
One year back in America with your kids and you’d be ready to return to Norway. You’d never send your kids to public school in America, would you? Not with Norway’s terrific public education you wouldn’t. Or would you?
But I sure understand your feelings. You’re suffering from post parental visit syndrome. You’ll get over it soon.
