Fatherhood

So, in my last post, I said I was going skiing. I thought about it everyday. I have been skiing since I was a child. I have skied on multiple continents. Skiing was a way of life for me for a long time. Then… I moved out, moved on and went my way. I never really had the money to keep it up. I loved it so much but just couldn’t do it like I did when my parents footed the bill.
Well, it’s been a banner fucking season here in Drammen, Norway. There’s been a ton of snow. I can see two different ski places from two different windows. I thought about my ski day, today, all week..
We packed up the kids ( one of whom was quite the pain-in-the-ass) and got on the slopes. Well, Amanda, the very little one (4 months), the one who never cries, wouldn’t stop crying at Grandma’s. I got in two runs on the slopes. That’s it! That’s it! It felt great, but ended way too quickly. But that is what being a father is all about.
I didn’t even get angry. I just knew it was what I had to do.

Not had hardly any snow here. I’ve never skied. Probably never will. Nice to hear from you.
