Signals

Yesterday was Deb’s birthday. She turned 26. It was the first time that I got to physically be there for it. The last two times we were separated by a big thing of water called  the “Atlantic.” So Saturday we had a few friends over, barbecued, and had a few drinks. It was all very nice. I bought Deb a new drill, some motor oil, some anal lube, some aftershave and a few new masonry drill bits. She looked a little surprised when she opened the presents. I guess that meant she was happy.

I have been watching the Olympics, with actual interest, for a few days now. You see, I never really had any interest in the Olympics before. But being home, and having cable for the first time here, I kind of got hooked….I’ve watched swimming, 10 meter air-rifle competition, synchronized diving and women’s beach volleyball.    I  never heard of some of these sports before. 10 meter air rifle? Synchronized diving?  My friend Jeremy and I went to a park near home, once, called Basset Park. We were bored so we found a large stick and proceeded to see who could throw it the farthest. He won. Now I am wondering when this could become an Olympic Sport. How does one decide to become a synchronized diver?

There was one sport that I found myself watching with great intensity. Women’s beach volleyball. What a fantastic sport! It was exciting and had some sexuality  mixed into it. When a person serves, her teammate crouches over and shows her hand signals. She hides those signals behind her butt. Everytime I found myself drifting from the TV they would have one of the butt shots and I was back. These women have nice butts, and the bathing suits do them justice. I honestly believe they should have this sport on right before Monday night football. The ratings would go through the roof. This sport could gain massive popularity in the states. I am actually surprised that it hasn’t been on prime-time more often.  One of the games I watched was Norway vs. US. You know who won? Me. I was the winner.

We’re almost finished painting the master bedroom. Just one more coat in the closet and we can finally move in. The other day we  were in a real hurry to meet someone, so we picked the color in 20 seconds. We are so happy with the decision too. It’s a light, ice blue. It looks fantastic with the curtains we have. I think this is the way to make these decisions. Have an general idea of the shade you want, walk in, grab the color list, and go with your first instinct. That way there’s none of that back-and-forth that plagues so many decisions made by couples.

The weird thing about painting in Norway is that everyone paints over wallpaper. It’s bizarre to me. I very rarely see a wall that isn’t painted over, textured wallpaper. This is what we did in our bedroom. It was this cloth-like, brown stuff. It took more than 5 liters of paint to do the first coat. The damn thing sucked it up like it was thirsty. It looks better now, but I still find painting wallpaper strange.

Holy Crap, Norway versus Switzerland in women’s beach volleyball just came on. The one player on the Swiss team has a big ‘ol booty.
